Me and my friends decided that we must get out from Brno. And inspired by our friends who spent weekend in Paris two weeks ago, our choice was to visit Czech capital Prague, do some sightseeing, walk around old town and Small side... simply enjoy town little bit.
I woke up at 6.15am ... pretty early ... and bloody difficult for me... after quick breakfast we left our warm dorm room and took public transfer to railway station. Very nice lady at ticket box who gently told me that my student discount card (by the way INTERNATIONAL) is not valid for buying domestic ticket but she suggested buying group ticket ... she was really nice and her look of murderer just kept scaring me.
Anyway, we finally got our tickets and took EC to PRague. Train car was really good and it was silent there so we spent most of time chatting and enjoying road and country behind window.
When we finally arrived to Prague. Capital welcomed us with cloudy but warm weather and huge line for subway tickets, so we decided to give it a chance at subway stop near National museum, which is near Main railway station. After we got our day-long tickets we jumped on subway and go to visit Prague square and music shop, which is situated near by. After we checked stuff we had wanted (and of course buy nothing ;)) . We headed to Carl square and went straight to little pub near square called Parachute' s. It' s really nice, stylish place with lot of photos of czechoslovak troopers, who fought during World War II and other military stuff. They makes really great meal there and relatively cheap for Prague city centre. We had lunch and couples of beers and we finally made plan for rest of the day.
After lunch we took public transport to Vaclav square and after we visited traditional trade market, we walked throught old, narrow streets of old town prague to old city square just in time to see all saints ringing new hour at huge Prague Orloj. We also saw bride who had just got married in church and posed for all crazy italian tourists , who just happened to be around. Good luck to happy couple. :)
That we continued our tour out of streets of old town to Carl' s bridge another CAN'T miss prague attraction ( at least they say that). Prague has definitely changed during last few years since i visited last time. More tourists, more souvenirs shops, more turkish kebap shops in old town and less and less of old , medieval Prague.
But some things haven't changed for ages and one of them are stairs to prague castle. They are still many of them, in fact i think someone added new one's :). Another option is that i just need to workout more, but i simple deprecate this devil thoughts. :) After we arrived in such pompous, swetty and hardbreathing style to castle we found out that Prince Charles is visiting Czech president and he has quite policemen squad with him . But historical part of castle was opened so we walked throught old paths around cathedral and just for a little while we were back in 16th century. Or we would be if there was no cafe with 60kc expresso and spanish guys shouting something to each other.
After we "climbed down " to subway we all agreed we need something to eat so we exit subway at station Flora and had great raspberry cake. It was still only 4pm and our train was supposed to leave back to Brno at 1930. So we headed back to city center and enjoyed orloy each hour ceremony for second time. We also saw crazy looking bicycle for 6 people + driver. The most interesting thing about it was that riders sitted our "table"... group of mexican students were pretty excited about it and took like 3 rides on this... conference bike :) They enjoyed their time, they were singing spanish song and we enjoyed time with them... after orloj did its thing (ok that sounds strange but you know i mean). We visited couple of shops and since we didn' t have other ideas what to do, except quite expensive drinking few beers. We took earlier train back to our college town and some of us eventually got their beer there ;p
We had really good day in Prague and we definitely wanna to visit it again. Some photos .... not very good photos...
